Rich Shea Butter Lotion Bar
Take the richness of shea butter lotion with you when you make your own lotion bar with this easy recipe. A lotion bar is simply lotion in a solid form that you can rub all over your your skin and melts on contact.
Because this recipe does not use cocoa butter, it is very easy for you to personalize the lotion bar with the fragrance or essential oil of your choice as there is no chocolatey smell to worry about.
4 oz shea butter
4 oz beeswax (either yellow or white)
5 oz jojoba or grapeseed oil
2 tsp of the essential oil or fragrance oil of your choice
Melt the beeswax in one container and melt the shea butter and oil in another container. Mix the two melted solutions together well and stir in the frangrance or essential oil. Let the mixture cool slightly, If you allow the mixture to cool slightly before pouring it, there will be less of a chance that the top of the bar will appear sunken.
Pour the cooled mixture into the container of your choice. You can put your lotion bar product in a plastic container or a metal tin. There are also containers with a spiral up/down system to raise and lower the solid lotion. The lotion bars will be set in about 1 - 2 hours.
