Calendula flowers (dried or fresh)
Organic olive oil, cold-pressed
If using dried flowers:
Add your flowers to the container and cover with olive oil. Close tightly and store in a warm place, like the top of a refrigerator or in the sun for 2 weeks. Strain the oil, removing all calendula pieces. Add more dried calendula and site for another 2 weeks.
If using fresh flowers:
Collect enough flower heads to fill your container of choice. Place the calendula flower heads on paper towels let them rest for about 30 minutes.
Add your flowers to the container and cover with the oil. Close tightly and store in a warm place, like the top of a refrigerator and infuse the oil for one week. After a week, strain the oil thoroughly to remove all flower pieces and store oil in a clean bottle.
Herbal infused oils can sometimes get moldy if moisture is left in the herbs or containers. If this is one of your first projects, consider using the dried calendula flowers and insuring the bottles are completely dry before filling.
